Clive Getkate

We are sorry to report that Clive Getkate passed away during coronary bypass surgery on 27th November, 2012.   Clive was from Zululand and was a boarder at DHS.  At school he was a keen cricketer and a skillful bowler.  After school he did military training and then settled back in Zululand.  He married Beverly in 1964 and started and ran a successful pest control company.   Clive continued his interest in cricket and was active in the local cricket club.  He is survived by Bev and his sons Wayne, Nevill, and Russell.

Clive attended the 50 year reunion in Durban in 2011,  where he was a jovial and friendly presence.   The following two photographs are from the reunion.

I remember 'Nyoni' as a good friend during our DHS days.  He was always cheerful, a leg-puller and generally a positive influence.  I also think it was his family that had a magnificent red Plymouth Fury that used to arrive at School and term-end and again at the start of the following term - as a car nut, I always admired it (and them for their choice of transport).  Hamba gahle, old friend:  you are fondly remembered.  Chris
