In Memory

Colin Ric-Hansen

Colin Ric-Hansen attended DHS in third form in 1958, and possibly the following year -- we are not quite sure when he left. He lived right next to the school, at the corner of Windmill and Vause, which allowed him the luxury of a late dash to be on time for assembly. His classmate Robert D'Aubrey remembers him devouring an entire crib sheet during an exam, when our teacher "Maniac" MacMichael spotted him cribbing.

Colin had a career in the fabric industry, working mostly in Johannesburg. He married Jaqui in 1970 and they had two children, Terry and Julie, and three grandsons.

Colin retired to Howick, where he died on 15 September 2015.  Please let us know if you have any more information about Colin and his life.

Robert D'Aubrey

Colin attended Treverton prep school in Mooi-River before entering D.H.S.in1958,and i was a class mate of his in 58' and 59'!!!  He was the epitome of the naughty naive but loyal schoolboy, and had a couple of 'run-inns' with Wrinkles Mciver over bunking problems ,presumably as he lived in vause road and the temptation was just to great.!! Colin was one of the great characters in the infamous 3GB and 4GB class's. R.I.P. Ric.
