Keith Thomas was born in 1942, and so was two years older than most of our class. He was with our cohort only in 1960, when he repeated 5th form and joined us in form 5B. So far as we can determine, he left school a the end of that year and did not proceed to matric in 1961.
Keith had a retiring disposition and kept mostly to himself, though he did startle some classmates by mentioning that he was a communist -- a very indiscreet admission in South Africa at the time! His main interest was in motor cars and particularly car racing.
Unfortunately we know almost nothing of Keith's life after we left school. We know that he was living in the Point Rd area in 2004, and that he served as director of a series of minor companies from 1998 to 2002 (Hungry Hermit, Kitto Venture, Alueno Trading, Izinyoni Trading, Settle Trading, Shuttlecock Trading). Beyond that we could find no trace of Keith. He has been on our "missing" list since the class website was founded in 2010.
We have recently checked our missing members against the South African death register and discovered that he died in Pietermaritzburg on 2 November, 2008. We have no information about his survivors or cause of death.
