Ivan Taylor was a cheerful and well-liked pupil. One classmate recalls: "Ivan was a bouncy, chubby lad, always full of fun. He always had an appropriate witty remark -- friendly towards almost everyone he met, but at the same time he was sharply intelligent . No one put anything over Ivan".
Ivan entered military service after leaving school. Unfortunately he died in a road accident on 23 March, 1963, when he and a group of national servicemen were returning to Durban in a military truck. The 19 year old driver took a corner far too fast, and the vehicle rolled, killing Ivan and several others.
Ivan was a cousin of the late Harold Taylor, also in our year at DHS.
